You've reached the inbox of Cullen Rutherford. I'm indisposed right now. Please leave a brief message and I will contact you as soon as I'm available.
Voice; @Maverick
This is John Sheppard, squad leader of RR-1.
I received your application. We're interested. Consider this a casual phone interview.
[A brief pause, as he settles in with some coffee.]
What makes you want to join RR-1?
Voice;
[He ignores the whole casual bit. Cullen has trouble with that on a good day, unless there are cards involved...]
I would like to be of use. Since it seems rather imperious to assume that my former position of leadership would just be handed to me so soon after my arrival, I have no problem with working in the dirtiest or most difficult positions. This squad seems to have both.

We all start at the bottom rung, here. You're only as good as your last mission.
Says you were 'knight commander' at your previous post. That above or below a general?
no subject
Knight-Commander was before that. And it wasn't for very long. There wasn't anyone else above me to take the position at the time. [He doesn't really want to talk about why he became Knight-Commander in Kirkwall. Not to mention that he'd been Meredith's second-in-command before the Champion had taken her out.]
To answer your question, I suppose it would be about the rank of general or so. I'm not absolutely certain how it compares to other armed forces.
no subject
How do you feel about that?

no subject
So I trust there won't be any issues taking orders from me?
I'm not sure I'd consider myself your superior, but I am in charge.
no subject
Besides, there's no shame in working one's way from the bottom to become a leader.
no subject
Like you said, it's dirty work, and it's not the easiest, or most glamourous job in the PG, but we get stuff done that needs to get done, for everyone's sake.
We're a small team, so it's especially important we all get along.
[A pause, for dramatic effect.]
Are you a dog person, or a cat person?

[And here is a picture of what must be his pillow, and innocuous but ominous note atop it.]
I do hope you aren't too busy.

Among many things, Iona Lavellan is rather difficult to pin down. I would assume she's gone off to explore.

I was referring to the "done something stupid" part. There are a few things I can imagine her doing, but the worse would probably be going outside the wall by herself. Something that I haven't even done.
no subject
I don't parade about in armor, though. Give me a quarter hour and I'll meet you at the barracks.
no subject
I'm there now. Dorian, bring more than just your staff if you have it.
no subject
That and I don't believe her to be in the best state of mind at the moment.
More than my staff?
no subject
Yes, spells and staves are all well and good, but since we're missing Varric and Bianca, I think we'll have to compensate a bit. Do you have any projectile weapons that don't rely on magic?

Kidding! I was actually wondering if you wanted to go for a run with me? If you want to take a bath after that's up to you.
no subject
[It's obvious this woman will probably be the death of him, and not because of fear!]
A run would be nice. There are only so many repetitions of training that I can go through before it get rather old. Is there somewhere you'd like to meet?
no subject
Does just outside the castle work? Iām free now if you are!
I have a route I go that does a good job of avoiding the forest.
no subject
[He is NOT the sit around type, after all.]
I can see how that would be beneficial. I can only assume it took some trial and error to make your way through it?
no subject
Perfect!
Not really, I can smell that stuff pretty well for the most part.

no subject
Oh yeah I probably forgot to tell you. I'm a werewolf.
no subject
[There'd been rumors about a group of men-wolves in Brecilian Forest that had reached Kinloch and some whisperings about them in Kirkwall, but no one really believed that.]
You're a shapeshifting mage?
[That makes more sense, honestly, after knowing Morrigan.]
